Project Description
My project was to develop an Accommodation Process in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Using a standardized process keeps the company consistent in their practices making it fair to all that request an accommodation. Each employee requesting an accommodation follows the same process. First the request, then the physician's statement identifying the disability, then the interaction between the company and the staff to determine the accommodation that will work for the employee. Ultimately the end result is both a win for the employee and a win for the company.

Project Process
At the start of the process I did research through the American with Disabilities (ADA) website on the laws and what can and cannot be asked of an employee in the Accommodation process. The steps of the process are as follows:

Create a letter that notifies the employee about the Accommodation process and the explanation of what they will need from their Medical Provider. The letter also identifies the due dates within the process and what it means if the due dates outlined are not met (see Appendix A).

Research ADA law and what health questions can and cannot be asked of a Medical Provider

Create a letter to the Medical Provider outlining what is needed and why.

Create a form for the Medical Provider to fill out and return to the employer (see Appendix B).
